My throttle will not stay put when running. Say I am running at 5500 rpm, I let go of the throttle it backs itself back down to about 4000. Is there a way to tighten it so i can put both hands on the wheel.
Thanks in advance for any help. Everyone on this entire forum has been helpful.

Re: throttle tightening

There should be a throtttle friction screw on the control. They're not usually in plain sight, but they're usually accessable without disassembly. It's just a matter of finding it.

Re: throttle tightening

which Yammie control box do you have ?...on the binnacle mount style you have to remove the cover to access the friction screw...on the side mount the friction control is right on the back of the box 8)

Re: throttle tightening

It is a 704 or 701 Yamaha. It is a flush mount for a center console boat.
