Hi guys......lots of knowledge on this forum.
I have a recently bought a 2001 Tracker Tahoe w/ a Chevy 305 in it and it has thru hull exhaust. I like it but when pulling skiers or tube it's hard to communicate with them with the engine running. I dont want to take them off because I enjoy them when just crusing around. It still has the Y pipe in place for thru pipe exhaust and it has Y pipes from each exhaust manifold and the Y's go to the thru hull and to the thru prop.
Does anyone make some manual valves I can install to switch between thru hull and thru prop? The captains call or others are rediculously expensive. I know they make them for cars for open exhaust. I just cant find 4" stainless valves.
Another option that I can think of is possibly capping the thru hull pipes off from the outside not from engine compartment (replace the flappers with some sort of rubber cap). Problem is that I can't find anything to use or fit the 4" pipes. Pipes Caps from lowes are too large in diameter to seal well. I don't even know if a cap like that with a hose clamp would stay on.
Thanks for any help or ideas towards this.
