I guess I've been doing the same thing as Bondo again. I started my thru transom on my 406 a few years ago. Started off wayyyy too loud and slowly redesigned thru 3 generations till they are now almost as quite as thru prop...well maybe not almost...but quiet.

The designs also eliminated and water reversion by keeping the whole SS exhaust system water jacketed and baffled so the exhaust doesn't mix with the water 'til almost 3' past the exhaust ports on the heads.

and here's a pix prior to a little plumbing change and old cast-iron manifolds.

Hey Charlie, long time no see Bud....
Those pipes are lookin' pretty Sweet...

I've got a set of Kodiak aluminum manifolds for this up-coming project barge,...
Been thinkin' of goin' Dry-Joint with my new setup too...
I need to build aluminum spacer/ adapter blocks to marry the Gil-marine long drop risers to 'em anyways...

Odd.... I actually have been contemplating welding my aluminum manifolds and risers just like that and going dry joint.....

I've actually been welding the cast-iron manifolds and risers for some years now, long before merc came up with the ridiculously expensive dry-joint system.

Bill,
I'm not familiar with the Kodiak manifolds but I think I called them in reference to the bolt pattern matching the merc manifold/riser.

We can collaborate on the adapter. I got a TIG welder this winter and need some projects.

If I remember right, the GIL has a clamping type connection. Shouldn't be too hard to make an adapter.
