Thru-Hull exhaust tips with baffles

Hello All:<br />I had posted a question similar to this over on the Bryant owners site, but nobody could give an estimate.<br />I have a 7.4 mercruiser with thru-hull exhaust. No captains call, and it is loud enough to drown out stereo, conversation, etc. Looked into adding the captain call feature, but the price has me trying something else first.<br />Purchased custom tips with baffles for a reasonable price, and will have them installed over the winter.<br />Question is: What kind of a noise reduction can be expected?<br />Anybody done this on a big block? What percent would you say?<br />Thanx!

What i've read, you're looking at 10/30%.......<br /><br />I've got straight pipes....<br />And, also got sick of the rumble......<br />I extended the pipes down,+ out at an angle till the tips were about 4"s underwater at Idle.......<br />Now I can here the belts squeak when trolling....<br />But, When it breaks over onto plane,<br />I Still get that Lovely Sound............

Guys:<br />I will check the site mentioned, and add that the boys at the custom shop were talking about 70 percent reduction because of the design.<br />Thay are in a box in the garage, so I went and looked at them. They appear to be quality stainless with what can be best described as a "swirled" multiple set of welded baffles. New flappers also, which even though the boat has 73 hours on it, it's still 7 yrs old and time for all the rubber hoses, belts, etc. to be replaces. <br />Loosely marketed as "silencer tips". <br />I also know what you mean about the sweet sound!
