Thru Hull type and sizing

I am planning to add a thru hull fitting to my boat. I plan on having a livewell, baitwell, and a washdown pump connected to the thru hull. What diameter thru hull do I need for a 5-6 gpm washdown pump?

I have seen 2 types of thru hulls in the stores. A disk shaped and a wedge shaped. I really like the wedge shape because it has a screen on it and I think it looks better. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to using a wedge shape instead of a disk shaped thru hull?

Lastly, where is the best location (obviously under the WL) for the fitting? I was thinking in the aft 1/3 or so of the boat. Is this a good assumption?

I have 2 - 1" bronze scoop type intakes for my pumps. One for the WD and one for the bait well.

I get a little carried away with viewing too many tabs at once... I was starting to wonder why this thread wasn't showing up in the general boating forum:redface:
