Installing an automatic ballast system on my boat and have a question about thru hulls below the waterline. I am going to install 2 1" thru hulls and then thread on a ball valve, then run hose to the pump. The problem I am having is matching the thread types between the thru hull and the ball valve. Most, if not all, thru hulls in 1" are straight thread. Most, if not all, ball valves are NPT. For low pressure systems like my ballast install and in fresh water only, what are my options? Does anyone make a ball valve with straight threads or a thru hull with NPT? A true seacock would be an obvious choice, but seems like overkill for my little wakeboard boat (23').
