Hey.
12' avon inflatable,'89 40 hp Tahatsu,m40d?,m40c? I always mix em up,prop is probably the original, its been painted so many times I cant see the pitch stamp, probably factory original,I'm guessing moderate ? anyhow....with this 40 on just a lil inflatable,,,,I oughta be able to "go" like a bat outa hell !

So...heres what happens...
When I'm underway,lets say 1/2 throttle,I goose it,motor kicks in right away !
theres maybe a 5 second "delay" before I get goin faster, kinda like a bad clutch in a car,my top speed is not "scary" at all...

Ya think its the thrust washer is worn out ? or maybe washer/prop is worn out ??? cost is a factor here so I'm hoping ????,,,,its the washer ? cant really afford a new prop/washer ! used props ????

What you guys think ????

Sound to me like you might have a spun prop. Ive never herd of a thrust washer wearing out. Put a mark on the prop and hub after running stop and see if the mark is still in line if not you have a spun prop. It's a easy fix at any prop shop.

Just order a new prop exactly like the one you have, on-line, about $80.
