I have a thrust washer on my Merc 350 Apha I Gen II but is it possible for it to go bad? It looks a little worn.

Re: Thrust Washer?

The Thrust Washer is a Part of the Prop.......
Some Props Don't even use a Thrust Washer......

When Installed,.. It Should Never Move.......

If it's galled or pitted,.... Ya, Sure, Replace it.................

Re: Thrust Washer?

Bondo, I pulled the prop off and the thrust washer just popped off of the back of the prop. It doesn't feel like it presses onto the prop shaft very tight. I just don't think it's bad but I can't seem to figure out my RPM problem with my engine. About 12 hours from taking her to the shop....YIKES

Yep, I have number 79 there. Do you think I have an RPM limiter?

Re: Thrust Washer?

I'm Sorry,... I didn't mean it's Permanently Attached to the Prop,.....
Just that All Props Don't use Thrust Hubs........

My Torque-Shift Props,.. The face of the Prop is machined to match the Prop Shaft,.. Without a Thrust Hub.......

No,... I Can See No Way it Could Limit the RPMs......
