Thrust?

I am shopping for a new electric trolling motor, for a 14' Alumacraft....normally will just be me and my gear onboard ( outboard motor, 50 lbs. deep cycle battery, fishing equipment, and the cooler) how much thrust am I going to need?<br />Thanks!

40# should be plenty for protected areas....

You could do nicely with even less than 40#. I had a 36# on a 16 footer and never had a problem. You can never have too much power so buy as much as the budget allows, but there is a point where "good enough" enters the picture.

Do a little research get a motor with a maximizer<br /> or what ever they call it I think it can extend your runnung time by about 30%.
