thump and jolt from 1997 evinrude 6hp at wot

at wot my moter has this thumb and jolt every five seconds? what could it be. I have checked the bear lube, the propshaft, the prop, the cotter pin, the platic cap, and the shear pin? I did take out the gears behing the propllor and this little rod fell out,it was the shift rod and rounded at one end. Did I put this rod in backwards? what way does it go in???

Sounds like your dogs are worn. that shift pin needs to be replaced.

can you please tell me were to get these, are there pictures I can look at to see? I took thing apart today and the gears were not worn. were do I find more gears the little rod in tacked what way does it go in?
