thunderbolt 200 20hp

i just aquired a 20hp motor. I was starting to mess with it and realized it was always in gear. I got to tearing into it and the shift shaft has been sheared off inside of the lower unit. How do i get the lower unit apart to fetch out the sheared off piece?

You will need to at lest remove the prop shaft carrier and shift shaft bushing. The first thing to do is get a manual.

what is the best source for a manual? is the climer manual good?

If you need to tear into the lower unit, I'd recommend the factory manual, which is not cheap but will pay for itself in the first hour that your motor is not in the shop. You will also need to get or make a special tool to remove the bearing carrier retaining ring.
