THUNDERBOLT IV DISTRIBUTOR SENSOR

HI,i'm runing the thunderbolt IV on my 454bb 7.4L engine. the ignition box TB IV has v8 24 stampt on it. my question is, what's the correct distributor sensor for this ignition system?<br />could you give a part#<br />this sensor was installed last year,but there's no numbers on it.<br /><br />

What's the serial number of your engine, or even a year would help. <br />Also, what color is it actually. Gray or is it Black and just washed out from the light?<br />Is it not working?

the casting #3935439 from the block, the sensor is working. I'm not sure it's the right one.the old one had no wires just two nuts at the back of the distributor. the sensor was changed by a marine michanic that grounded some wires when installing the transom housing/outdrive thing.<br />the marine mechanic set the timing at 16*inital and 34advance.then the mechanic that rebuild the engine did his final tuneing of the engine and set the timing at 8*INITAL,which caused the engine to pull 10''of vacume,caused the curb idle to be set in to far,fouling plugs at idle,GAS GETTING BY THE RINGS.I'm just back tracking to solve this problem.<br />read more about this problem at www.speedwake.com<br />THANKS.

Casting numbers won't help, I have no way of cross referencing that with what Merc used.<br />I will ask again.<br /><br />

don s, its a 1968 to 69. <br /> the colour of the sensor is black.<br />

68 to 69?????? <br />No 454's then, and no Thunderbolt ignitions either, let alone Thunderbolt IV.

Maybe he means 88 to 89? Anyway, I think the part number on that is 87-892150Q02. I believe most or all V-6 and V-8 Thunderbolt IV or V 1981 to 2001 can use that sensor. <br /><br />Dave
