TieDown SuperLube spindles...they have a grease fitting in the end of the spindle to allow on-trailer wheel bearing grease change...have a stainless steel sleeve that covers the spindle shaft where the seal rides. This sleeve, although very hard, is also very thin and easily damaged if you are not aware that they are there. TieDown does not sell to the 'general public' so getting the sleeves from them is not an option for an individual. Does anyone know of an outlet where these sleeves can be purchased?

I wouldn't be surprised if Tiedown didn't source that part from Bearing Buddy.

Here is a link to the bearing Buddy replacement part

My trailer has those SuperLube spindles with the zerk grease fitting in the end of the shaft. The end hub cap is a press-in Bearing Buddy-type thing with a removable rubber cap for greasing. You can buy these type things at Northern Tool, Tractor Supply, any trailer equipment place. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Dingbat...that is really close. Wish I had taken a picture of that sleeve :(.
My spindle is stepped for a 1 1/16 and a 1 3/8 bearing and the sleeve is about 2 1/2 inches long. Maybe if push ever comes to shove, I can get what you sent me to work. Thanks for the reply.

45 Auto.....I am the original owner so the sleeves came with it. TieDown sells them as a wear sleeve 1.710x.720 with an o-ring. Their part number is 17293 but I can't find a distributor. Thanks for the reply.

Robert...I found several places that sell the grease cup and rubber grommet. If you ever pull your wheel and look at the shaft where the seal rides, let me know if you have a sleeve over the axel shaft. You have to look close as it sits on there pretty good and almost looks like part of the shaft. Thanks for the reply.

I've never noticed that sleeve. Must be a smooth polished stainless surface for the seal to ride on? Maybe have to buy the spindle with the sleeve on it?
Good Luck!

Robert, that is exactly what it is. I missed seeing it the first couple of times I pulled the hub because the seals kept blowing. I did get a set from TieDown under warranty but if I could find a distributor, I would get a couple of extra pairs. Thanks for the reply.
