Tightening prop nut

If I overtighten the prop nut does it affect the lower unit at all? Like, will the bearings be side loaded, etc...?

I know it calls for 55 flbs but I just zipped it on with the impact. I didn't go nuts, just ran her on, backed off a bit then snugged it.

I know it's a no-brainer, but I just thought about it and feel guilty.

No damage to the drive. To the prop maybe, but it would have to be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, over torqued for that to happen.

hello
if you have the flo-torque or flo-torque II hub it may or may not be damaged. much over 70Ftlbs and it can crack, less than about 30 and it will crack while running. its to simple to follow instructions :) .
