tiller to steering conversoin on Merc 10hp.

looking at a few motors tomorrow for my Wooster Hellion.

a few early 70's 110's, a few mid 70's 110's, a mid 80's 9.8 and a mid 90's 9.9

can someone point me in the right direction for converting the tiller arms to controls. I know the 10hp is just a small carb'd 15hp.

Any help is appreciated

well, picked up an '84 9.8 for $80 that needs a water pump. both cylinders had good compression, within 3psi of each other.

now, does anyone know where I can find the information on converting a tiller to controls on an '84 9.8?

I can find the 1996 and newer manuals, does anyone have a link for the mid 80's vintage mercs?

I just converted a 150/105 tiller to remote controls today. I'd imagine its the same or close on smaller motors. Just pull the cables out, unbolt the tiller and pull the wiring. Then run the shift cable down to the reversing plate and hook the throttle up.

Select small engine repair

Select Marine/Boat motor

Scroll down & select Mercury

You may find your motor...

Many of the manuals are combined hp & yrs, others are model/yr specific. Specific for your year & motor would be better, but in a pinch the combined is better then nothing.

thanks, unfortunatley my motor year isnt in whats available, however I did find a manual that covers the Mark 20

I should be able to piece enough info together to be dangerous.
