I have a mid 70s Evinrude 135hp and am wondering what other models year tilt and trims will work for (even ones that might take minor modification). It seems there are a lot of them available, just not for my year (which I believe to be a '75).

Does anyone know what the part number is for the correct one?

I have the option to buy this tilt and trim and am wondering if anyone knows how difficult it would be to modify to work with a 73 135 hp Evinrude.

I should have included this picture of one of my brackets in the earlier post.

That unit your looking at will fit 1978 thru 1996 or so motors from 70 to 200 hp. I will not fit between the mounting brackets of you motor. Have seen it suggested before that you might be able to replace the whole pivot mount with the mounting brackets with one from a later motor. I've seen those on Ebay with the T&T unit included guite often. Probably have more luck doing that.

The unit you really need is the one with the tilt rams and hydraulic pump that go outside of the mounting brackets, but it is my understanding this unit is not really for trim, but tilt only. Also, much more rare to find and usually more expensive.

Keep in mind, that if you change to a newer trim unit, that the rams are different from the 135 style. The existing swivel bracket on your engine won't adapt to the newer trim unit. There is no place for the rams to push against, and no place for the tilt ram to mount. Not sure if the newer swivel bracket will adapt to the 135 steering arm. Easier just to keep looking for a used one of the original style trim systems. If you find one, make sure it has the separate wiring and control solenoid. Yes, they made two types, the tilt-only and the trim/tilt type. You may even find a useable one on a complete junk engine.
