I have an Evinrude 48 Spl with the assisted tilt feature. It no longer assists rather it is very difficult to raise the motor. Can anyone relay something helpful?
I have changed alot of these units. No way that I have heard of to recharge that gas assist unit.It is also possible that you are bound up at the tilt tube.To tell you will need to remove the upper tilt pin.Sounds easy ?Well I have had to cut those assist cylinders out more often than things just tapped out as they should. All that with the torch.Good luck. Here if ya need me.
Greg
What year do you have and what is the Model number. Those assists cannot be rebuilt, but you can get new ones on the internet. Post your year and Model number for more info. I believe they are fairly expensive ($200.00) or so.
Hello, Trigger 2 and rickdb1boat thanks for the replies. The year is 1992. Can't get to the model # right now. Also do you guys have any knowledge of a manually operated trim and tilt unit availabe on the market?
Thaks Greg
