Tilt Button will only go down - Have to use "trailer" to raise

I have a Mercruiser/AlphaOne drive, on my control handle I have the standard tilt up/down button. This will work when lowering the outdrive, but it doesn't want to raise it. So when I need to raise it I have to use the "trailer" button to raise. Is there an easy way of getting this fixed? Should I start with taking about the up/down and cleaning those parts? Let me know if anyone has had this issue in past and what best place to start getting this fixed. Thanks

Typical issue for this symptom is that the trim limit 'switch/sender' on the outdrive has gone bad and is no longer making contact.

you can repair or replace the limit switch (port side of the gimbal).

I was able to look an watch a "youtube" video of this, I need to remove the freakin outdrive to replace this sender? UGH Seems like a huge pain in *** for something so minor.

If you can repair the sender, then that would be the easier route.

i have replaced the senders on a Bravo drive without removing the drive or taking things apart. Even though the manual states otherwise. I am not sure about the alpha drive, but probably the same.

Open up the limit switch and/or check the wiring to see if the current switch is savable. Then proceed from there.
