I have a 95 Johnson 28HP motor. It does not have power tilt/trim on it. Is there anyway to "lock" it in the down position? If I reverse it quickly it has a tendency to kick up out of the water.
I can pull it out of the water and it locks up. To lower it I pull back slightly and move a small bar on the port side and it lowers down in. I did notice a small lever on the starboard side of the motor that has a picture of a motor on the back of a boat that appears it has something to do with raising and lowering the motor. Should I be using this to lock/unlock the motor? Would this lock it in a down position?
