tilt dont work after i try to start motor

Hey all, New here but been lurking for a while. I usually can figure out problem from an older post but this time I had to sign up and ask. 1985 150 evinrude. Having trouble with my tilt and starter. When I disconnect and reconnect the battery my tilt/trim works fine. As soon as I go to try to start motor my starter makes a click sound and the trim doesn?t work. I disconnect the battery again and reconnect and the trim/tilt works. When I try to start motor the same thing happens. I can hear the solenoids buzzing or clicking for the trim but no movement after I try to start motor.
Any help is appreciated

already cleaned battery wires. will clean on the motor end too. putting a new starter in also. starter has been acting up anyways. I really hope it is a ditty connenction. just cant figure why tilt would work until i try to start. going crazy ....

Need to have your battery load tested to see if it is the problem; if not, you have dirty connections somewhere it sounds like especially the ground connection at the engine end. Also, your battery wires could be corroded on the inside they would be "cruncy" if you try to bend them.

As said above, bad connections or cables.

starter was toast and shorting somthing out. new starter and all is good. thanks for all input. at least i already cleaned all connections trouble shooting prior. easy replacement. what a relief...
