Tilt gauge range

i installed a trim gauge and have tried adjusting the sending unit till i'm out of my mind. I can only get it to register 1/2 mark to full down on the gauge . What have I done wrong? No matter how i turn the dial on the sendig unit I can't get it any better on the gauge. Ideas appreciated!

What brand of gauge are you using? Reason I ask is that I tried using a teleflex gauge with my OMC engine and it wouldn't register the proper range. Close, but for some reason it was off. I don't know why, but I replaced it with an OMC gauge and it worked better. Don't know if this would be a factor with a merc. (aftermarket vs. OEM gauge).

Good point. it is a teleflex gauge also. Might be the common denominator. Thanks!
