Hi, this is my first and probably not my last question. I am fairly new to boating. Bought a Aqua Patio !993 24FT. with a 60hp merc 2 stroke last year at a marine store, he put in water pump and all was checked and tested. It ran great, but I got a lot of cavitation, so I replaced prop with a solace S.S. one problem all but disappeared. In nov.09 on our last run of year, it developed a problem. Motor would die at wot down to 3000rpms. I parked it for the year then took it to get fixed. We just got it back, and first time out have the cavitation problem again. I do not know if he changed the tilt or moved the height of motor. What hole should the tilt pin be in and how high or low should motor be? Sorry for being long winded, but I need some low down from other boaters Thanks

Re: tilt hole adjustment, motor height

You have a pontoon -- get the motor down as low as you can mount it (as in sitting full down on the transom bracket). The tilt pin should be set so the prop shaft is parallel with the water line when the boat is at speed. Too much out trim on a pontoon is inefficient.
