Tilt lock fearure on new 15hp Merc.

Received my new motor and boat today. Was being shown various things before launching. The tilt lock feature does not hold the motor in full up position. Any adjustment did not seem to help. Is there any reason for this other than a design problem? This is the main power source, not for auxillary use. A tilt lock kit seems to be available but I don't think that one should need to start that sort of thing on a new motor. Any info or opinions are appreciated.<br /><br /> Fredda

G,day. Sloopy, read the post properly. Fredda did say Merc 15 HP.<br />Fredda. the merc 15 does have a tilt lock. It is explained very well in your owners manual, If not give your selling dealer a call and ask him to explain again.<br />Basicaly make sure the knob on the port side at the top is in the up position is up. put the motor in fwd gear. lift the motor up to the top and it should stay there.
