I'm not having any luck figuring out how to remove my tilt motor on my 1977 sea ray. it's a 352 ford and a 235 omc. do'es it come off from the outside or inside the boat. The motor is on the inside but I don't see any bolts to remove? (tilt goes down good but has a very hard time going up.... most of the time it won't even go up.

Re: tilt motor

Should be two bolts (one on either side) running the length of the motor into the intermediate housing. Unplug, reverse those out and it should fall right out.

Do you have a manual for it?

Re: tilt motor

Are you talking about the two nuts on the back of the tilt motor?

So here are some of the ones I found on ebay. Looks like they bolt on from the front... I can't see any such bolts .

So if those are the bolts to take out, I can get to them from inside the boat. The tilt motor is just under the back motor mount. They must be long enough to go though the tilt motor and into the ? Thanks for all your help. I'll try and get them out tommarow:cool:

Re: tilt motor

I think it's a Prestolite ETK4102, however before you hunt down a new one ... take your motor to a local parts store and see if they can rebuild it. It'll be about half the cost of a replacement and I was utterly amazed that my trim motor could be "resurrected."
