I have acquired a 2000 30 HP 2 cycle Mercury with virtually 0 hours. Now the bad: it was stored outside on its side for three years...
Anyhow, after pre-lubing the beast it fired right up. I mounted it to a 13' Boston Whaler.
Unfortunately, the manual push-pull tilt lock pin seems to be stuck or "frozen". I heated up the casting and tried pressing it with small clamps. Nada. Smacked the plastic cap on the pin with a suitable mallet. NO!
Is it going to be necessary to remove the pin and its sleeve with a press and install a new one? Or is there something else I could try?
WD40 has not yet penetrated.
