Tilt Problem

1991 FourWinns 205 Sundowner, 5.8L, OMC Cobra. Tilt lowers fine. Nothing when trying to raise it, no motor running, no click, no nothing.

I do have the manual. It says there are two solenoids, but there is only one! There are two 50 amp breakers mounted on the engine. I can't tell from looking at the schematic if these are for the tilt, or what. Looks like they are hooked up to everything from the starter circuit, ignition system, to the tilt assy. There is also a 10 amp breaker on the tilt assy. I have pushed the red buttons on all to no avail. I have pulled apart most of the connections I can find to make sure they are making good contact. I do have a voltmeter, but really don't know how to troubleshoot this problem. Could somebody give me a hint where to start? If you have info on which wires I need to focus on (colors for up/down), that would certainly make ferreting out the problem much simpler.

Thanks

Re: Tilt Problem

hello
without looking at your tiltmotor I cannot do anymore than guess. follor the green and blue wires from the tiltmotor to the relay/solinoid assy. if this is a 3 wire motor then ground is black. if the motor runs down the ground is probably ok.12v positive on the blue wire from the tiltmotor will make it go up.12v on the green will make it go down. if this is a two wire motor then ground the green wire and 12 volt positive on the blue and it will go up. I have seen a few systems wired so that only one solinoid was used. it was used for trim up. if this is your system check the ground for the solinoid as well as the 16 ga. blue/white wire for 12 volts. its a simple system. good luck and keep posting
