Help!!! I need a tilt release fitting for a 197? Chrysler 120 HP. The male end ia 9/16x24 sae thread w/O ring, the female takes a standard (male) 3/16 dbl flare brake line type hose. Aeroquip and all the other industrial fitting people don't make the 9/16x24. I don't have a clue who Chrysler farmed it out to.

Aeroquip is a high dollar store and does a lot of business with the aviation industry...Used to use them frequently. Swadgelok/Swagelok/Swagelock (I think i spelled it correctly in one of the examples) if not, Google search will correct you/direct you to the correct supplier. Both companies are upper end, catering to the avaition, military industry and probably are out of the financial reach of you and me in our boating endeavers. W.W.Grainger is a supplier of all kinds of things and is nationwide. May touch base with them. Or get in touch with a salesman of the two companies mentioned and see if they can direct you to a lower end fitting supplier.

Re: tilt release fitting

On some evinrude style valve bodies there was a separate bypass channel drilled. It had a threaded insert that would tighten down against a hole. When unscrewed the fluid could escape. I think they are still available from evinrude. If not and your old one is lost then you should buy a new valve body. Most of these valve bodies had a 1/2" main channel with a stamped check valve. If so, then it isn't rebuildable once bleed down starts anyway.

Re: tilt release fitting

this fitting goes into the tilt release on the motor, just a straight through adapter.
