Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts,

1998 40HP Merc\Force.
Just got the Trim\Tilt working (bad relay). First noticed what you call the Tilt Stop Pin ( yes, I am a complete newbie!). Can anyone please enlighten me as to it's purpose? Lock motor when up. down, or both??? Save strain on the hydraulic pump?

Thanks,
-Nels

Re: Tilt Stop Pin Function?

Unless I miss my guess, there are two allen head stop bolts at the bottom of the transom clamps. They function to stop the trim from tucking in too far.

At the top of the transom clamps are two tilt support pins that slide in to stop tilt from bleeding down. While they may be advertised as trailering pins, I would not do that. Using them as the only trailering support will put undue strain on the clamps and pins.
