I have a 1975 70 hp Johnson that I am adapting the tilt trim off a 1982 75 hp Johnson. Do I have to change the entire pivot bracket or can I attach my motor pivot and motor(off 1975 unit) to the boat pivot bracket (off 1982 unit with the tilt trim unit inside it) by removing the pivot pin?

As I recall, you will have to use the later trasom mounting brackets and all, as they are more heavy duty for the extra pressure, etc. Hopefully they will fit right up. If not, let me know, as I am looking for a complete tilt and trim setup for my 1988 75 HP. ...Bob in Calif... <br /> "America, none just as good"

Hi Bob. Where the bracket attaches to the motor is different between the two. The bolts on to the 1982 lower unit housing attaches with 4 bolts while the 1975 unit seems to bolt different at the bottom rubberized damper mounts. (top looks the same on both). I have not removed the bottom cover where the vibration dampers are. I am not sure I can use the motor side of the bracket because of the way it bolts up to the lower damper mount.
