Re: tilt trim fluid

how do you install fluid in a 1973 70 hp evinrude tilt trim unit

Trim your motor up and find the screw on your trim cylinder. Its a big, round flat screw and you need a "flat tipped" screw driver to unscrew it.

Use type F automatic transmission fluid to fill up the resevoir. Getting it into the resevoir is the tricky part and you usually use some type of connection piece on the top of the fluid bottle to get it into the resevoir and sometimes, you have to get creative! Put the screw back into the hole.

Run the trim all the way down and then all the way up. Repeat this process until it runs SMOOTHLY with NO noises like the ones you are getting right now!

Trim it back up and top off the resevoir. Put the screw back in and go fishing.

Awesome! Catch 'em up and post pics!

.... And you HAVE to tell me, How did you get the fluid in the resevoir?!?!??!?! Did you have a "squirter" top on the bottle or did you have to make something crazy ... ?!?!?!

I used a piece of fuel line and a very small funnel I'm taking my grandkids so you can figure how many fish I'm going to catch. snag bass, tree bass, hat bass, bank bass, dock bass, these are some of the fish the kids catch
once again thanks
