Tilt/Trim Kit for small Mariner outboard

Is there any way to hook up an electric tilt/trim to a 99' mariner 9.9 HP 4 stroke big foot? Even though this is a small outboard, Gulf War Illness and a back injury has made even this simple task difficult. I hunt and fish from my small boat and I get a lot of weeds, especially while hunting. I sometimes go alone and other times with someone else and the trim would help too so I don't have to lift the motor to change the trim pin position.

That would be perfect, if it cost much less. I was hoping someone had done something like this at home and had some tips.

so something that would attach to the transom on either side of the boat the connect in a padded V to cradle the lower part of the engine, then use a ram or rams to pull it up? do you need it to be able to help with the trim as well? or just pull the motor up?

just need to find some 12 V hydraulics for cheap

luv2boat.
First. thank you for your service.
Not sure where you are going with this thread.
Is it not possible to put the motor in revervse to get rid of the weeds and Go foward.???
I do this all the time duckhunting.
More details would help.??

I can design and build something. I was wondering if anyone had already done so so I could leverage off their plans.

It was an honor to serve and thank you for your comment.

I do the reverse the motor thing all the time too. But some of the weeds around here won't cut all the way off so I have to raise it all the way up and cut stuff off. I also raise it up onto the shallow drive to keep crap out of the prop, but all that takes lifting the motor around which is becoming too difficult. I could go with a simple lever device on tgop of the motor for a while, but something I can make cheap and electric or electric-hydraulic, that would be best. Money is an issue here, but mechanical skills are not. I look at most projects like this; If I can take apart a Sikorsky Pave Hawk and put it back together, I can handle a lot of things.

I've been googling different types of linear actuators, electric motors, rams, etc. My last thought was a starter motor on a bracket as a screw drive type of thing.

Re: Tilt/Trim Kit for small Mariner outboard

i have a box full of the dual action rams used on small mercury outboards. it is just the rams. You will need a pump. I would suggest a volvo AQ290 pump because you can get the whole thing new for $140 and it uses the same threads as the mercury rams (standard sae brake line). I do not know how they mount onto your engine and I do not have any bolts or brackets. You may need to buy or fabricate mounting hardware. Maybe your shop manual has a section on the optional power trim? You can have one for the 15mins of labor it will take to box it up and the $5 priority mail postage. just send me a pm or phone.
