Hey do you fill the resivior with the out drive up or down ?

And i dont know why but my'n leaks. Not a lot but it wont stay up in trailer mode.

My guage on the dash dosntwork so when i trim all the way down/In some times i hold it longer to make shure its down. Would that make some of the fluid leak somewhere. The rams dont leak and i don notice it leaking insde but it being clear fluid makes it hard to find to.

So if someone could anwser my questions thanks !

What are you working on? Volvo? OMC? Mercruiser?

If you have a mercuriser;
Fill the resevoir with the drive trimed full down/in

If you have an OMC cobra;
Fill the resevoir with the drive trimed full up/out
Don't remove the OMC fill plug unless the drive is full up/out or oil is going to spray everywhere.

If you have the newer Volvo pump;
Same as Mercruiser

The trim cylinders can fail internally. I've rebuilt more than a few. The seals in the end cap are usually the first things to go, but there is a piston seal inside that must hold pressure otherwise it will sink. You won't see a fluid loss from that, it will just allow the drive to creep downward. If you are losing fluid along with the drive creeping down, I'd say there is a problem with the line(s) leaking somewhere.

If you want to ID the leak a bit easier, you can run ATF in the trim bottles. Red is a bit easier to see than clear. if yours does remain clear though, the cylinders are probably decent. usually they start sucking water past the end seals and the fluid gets all white and nasty looking.

I think theres a leaking line. I found some fliud in the bilge. And whiped the lines down and the lower line is leaking. So ill have to replace that soon. Is it easy to do or a *^$%# ????

If you can get a wrench on it, probably no big deal. Use a line wrench for this, otherwise you risk rounding off the fitting. I can't honestly say I know how bad the access is at the transom side of things, I've never had one of those lines off. They usually come off the trim pump without much fuss though.

Yea it will come off the pump easy. I cant see where its attached to the outside lines though...
