i have a 86 175 johnson and am having trouble getting the tilt trim to work. all i hear is a click at the trim motor . could the motor be stuck ( it has been sitting awhile ). is there a way to check the motor without removing it? how can i check the hydro setup?

i got lucky and can get a complete motor minus the lower unit for 350.00 or a guy in Atlantic Beach ,NC can get me a good used unit for 250.00 guarenteed for a year. I think i'm going with the complete motor.

The o-ring kit for the trim is $40.00, I made a tool to remove the end caps off the pistons it wasn't to hard.It was harder getin it off the motor. I haven't found a kit for the tilt piston, but that wasn't the problem with my unit. Sounds like you found a good deal anyways
