Hey Guys,
Woundering if anybody has manual for a 200 Hp mariner enginue.
Bought last year am now doing some work on same. As soon as I took boat in to shed the tilt/trim failled. what you now hear when you toggle for up or down is a clkicking sound. Had a look inside cover on starboard side on engine there are two white switches/solenoid/relays thats where the clicking is coming from. Do you think replacing the same will solve the problem? Would appricate a manual if anyone has one! To get part numbers etc and to have a better understaning of the same.
Many thanks for any help you can Give. Have taken pic of the same for confirmation.
Ps Engine serial no. 0B276365:redface::redface:
Thanks
Cathal

Re: Tilt trim problem

The chances of both solinoids failing at the same time is slim at best. First find the wires from the pump and see that the ground wire has a good connection at the engine, next hook a voltmeter to the output side of the solinoids one at a time and see if there is 12 volt there. If there is then the pump motor has failed.

Re: Tilt trim problem motors/pump

Re: Tilt trim problem motors/pump

Laddies Thanks for info & Help.

Tested soliniods and both have 12v accross when switched. So I guess its the pump motor. This I take it is housed under the engine mounting which has two wires running to soliniods? I take it that I need to undo the bolting thats holding the brackets and piston in place to get at the motor and take it out to have a more detailed look at the same? (pic attached for confirmation)

Am also Curious as to what what the item show in the pic below is. I am guessing that it is something to do with the tilt and trim???.
I note there is a small dip stick on the side of the same and a label identiying transmission fluid only. It has to small bore pipes or cables exiting the housing but I cant trace them back to the engine! What would it be and where does it go??
Engine serial no. 0B276365 200HP

Thanks again for help

Re: Removing tilt and trim motor tilt and trim

Re: Removing tilt and trim motor tilt and trim

Hey Gus,
Can anyone tell me if you need to split the engine mounting bracket to remove the tilt/trim motor? Have come to the conclusion that this is the only way to get full access an to remove the same. Just need to know that I am heading in the right direction!

Re: Tilt trim problem

Yes they have to be spread at lest, some the trim mechanism has to be completely removed, get a hold of a OEM manual before you start. Tfe 2nd photo looks like a electric trim tab pump.

Re: Tilt trim problem

Hey Guys,

I cant seem to find any pump that looks like what I have in the mariner parts on this website. Crowlymarine have what appears to be what I have and needa and can be seen at ,www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_parts/579/410.cfm but is costing $1126.43!! The figure of $1126.43 seems to be extraordinary high as other pumps for engines of this size range from $200-$300!! Have attached picture of pump parts but appeards not to be a exact match. Can anyone throw any light on the same any help much appriciated.

Thanks
Cathal

Re: Tilt trim problem

Hey Guys
Unfortunately I have been told on the older Mariners, the power trim pumps have been updated to a new style, so the only option is the high priced replacement.
Does anybody know if you can get them repaired or reconditioned and if so where/ Any help would be appriciated.
Some additional info re the pump motor

Part #MM821303_0410 Power trim pump (Eaton Rectangular Motor)
Stamp on aluminium plate to top of pump motor = 17258
Serial no. to side of pump motor 09659A45 (I think A is what it reads as the text is worn here)
