Re: Tilt/Trim Problems

Bob, First check to see if the relays work. If they do, rebuilding the pump motor is easy. If not, relays aren't expensive either. Disconnect the two wires inside the cowling that run from the trim motor to the relays and check for 12v current when the trim switch is pressed by closing the open circuit with an ohmeter or a 12v light. You may also hear a click. You can also hook up the battery directly to the trim motor to test the motor. Once you've determined the outcome of this, lrt me know and we'll fix that motor if we need to. cdnfthree@yahoo.com

Re: Tilt/Trim Problems

Bob, Just so you know, +12V and -12V power must be supplied to the pump directly from the battery. The three wire connector on the pump sends power to the three push button panel, which then sends it to either the up solenoid (and then to the up winding of the motor) or directly to the down winding of the motor, in a one solenoid system. If your motor has no response, make sure you have +12Volts on the vertical connector of the pump wiring plug. If you do, use a jumper to connect the vertical connector to the upper horizontal connector and check for voltage at the solenoid primary winding. You should also hear the solenoid click, if it's good. You then need to trace the voltage to the motor to see if it makes it there
