Tilt Trim Question

88 MERC 5.7 ALPHA 1

I bought this boat in early spring. When pushing the tilt button up to raise the unit it would work then stop. I had to put the boat in neutral and use the trailer button to raise the unit. the down side worked great.
the last time I was out the down side started doing the same thing. If you push the button a few times it works. when it doesnt work you hear a clicking when you push the button. any ideas?

The Wiring is probably the Issue.........

On the Up-side,.... I'm guessing that you're running it up to the Trim Limit,...... Then you have to use the Trailer Button....
That's the way it's Supposed to Work.........

On the Down-side,...... It sounds like Dirty, or Failing Wiring..........
