Re: tilt trim solenoide
Its just a relay switch. The two larger poles on top should read infinite and the resistance accross the relay coil (two small terminals) should read 0 or near zero.
(Not familiar with your particular setup. My Merc has TT and 2 relays that are cross wired to produce a reversal of the voltage at the motor for the Up or Down function. This complicates the wiring. Also mine doesn't require the ignition switch to be on to get battery voltage to the coil and the high current terminals)
So after you do Mr. Schefer's test, you can put your ear or a screwdriver to your ear to each relay (solenoid) and listen for a distinctive click depending upon which you energize as a result of your UP-DOWN selection. The click says the drive ckt is operational. No click check input volts and proper ground. If ok, relay is bad.
Then put your voltmeter on dc volts and measure the voltage (to gnd) of one of the high current contacts on one of the relays....one will have voltage on it all the time. Then get on the other high current contact of that relay and hit the up-down switch and when you get the right direction for the relay you are looking at, the other high current terminal will read the same voltage as it's brother. If so, that relay should be good to go.....course the motor should be running at this time too...if not time to start looking at wiring connections and the pump it'self.
