My 2006 Johnson 115 goes full down as soon as I connect the battery & will not disengage. When I press the trim up switch on the engine pan the motor just stops. When I release the switch, the motor continues to run while still in the full down position. I have checked the relays with known good ones & receive the same action. I think I can disconnect the trim/tilt switch in the throttle handle and see if the problem remains. If the problem does remain my question is how do I remove the trim/tile switch from the engine pan.

LTHRNEC

Welcome LTHRNEC!

If you need to remove the TNT switch from the lower pan, you will need to take the three pin deutch connector apart. If you look down inside the connector, you will see the top of the wedge that holds the connector pins in place. Pop the wedge out and the connector will come apart. Remove the large nut from the backside of the switch and the the switch will come out.

Have localized the problem to the switch on the engine?

Right on the money. Faulty trim/tile switch in pan. Many thanks OBJ for your help. ;)

John
