I've been looking for a complete tilt/trim unit for my '74 1150 outboard. There have been a few units from 1150s that sold on ebay for $150-200 but many more from Mercruisers and other outboards. In order to widen my possibilities, can anyone give me a rundown of which units would be exact fits, which would be close enough to adapt easily and which would be very difficult to use?

Thanks!
Greg

All type I (trim cyls. on the outside of the mount brackets) are the same on Mercury outboards some of the mid size units may be missing a tie bolt that is differant on mid size and the larger engines, but I think one could be made out of threaded rod

I see a lot of Mercruiser hydraulic pumps for sale. They look like they have 4 hose connections. Since I already have a pair of cylinders, it seems that I should be able to fit one of these somewhere...... For that matter, couldn't I use almost any 2-way pump?

The prestolite pumps are the same a I/O uses a differant valve body than a outboard but can be changed easily if you can find one ( 4 bolts)
