Tilt&Trim up switch not working

Hi

I know this is a common qusetoin, but i dont know where to look.


I have a 1997 Mariah, with a 3.0 Mercruiser, and Quicksilver Remote.


The Down and Trailer buttons on the remote work but the up one doesnt.



Where do i start?

Corroded sending unit on the outdrive or the wires to it through the gimbal assembly are broken or frayed and shorting on the metal, will cause this problem.

thanks for that...other than visually inspecting this, is there a way i can test the circuit with a volt meter....
