Hello, 89 Maxum boat 85 hp force, didnt come with tilt trim. I purchased a unit with a cylinder and dampener. It uses the motor reservoir combo( one piece). The pump is a silver round deal that is driven with a hex shaft. It moves the engine with the trim cylinder, then doesnt move the tilt cylinder. I put a gauge and porta power on it, it takes 600 psi to move. The pump puts out 300 psi. Did I buy the wrong unit, for a smaller motor or is the pump shot. I am running 10w-30 engine oil. I have filled and bled till I am tired Of messing with it. Help Thanks
Mark

IF?? your getting 300# that shows the motor/pump is working.
Can you post a pic of the pump/motor?
Was the pump used? if so the valves in the bottom might need replacing?
The valves/seal are TINY,TINY and after time go bad, the link shows the seals.
The 3rd post in this forum has good info on T@T
In that post the last 2 posts cover some repairs/rebuilds.

Here is a pic of the pump torn apart. It is a 2 wire pump reservoir that sits on a manifold that 4 lines come out and go to the cylinders.

There's absolutely nothing in the pump that you can work on :(
The shuttle valve in the bottom of the pump is what needs work.
The little red thing is the seal, it goes bad after time and bleads pressure off.

Getting the pump back together??? I tried once :(

Jerry, I think my system is a different model? If there is a shuttle in the base, I dont see a way to access. Can anyone tell me what model I have?
thanks

Well, it works, I have no idea what fixed it. I took it apart again and and put it back together? My trim rod drips oil, the rod has some wear. Is this a standard item, or do I find used? Thanks again.

Post a pic of the unit.
The aftermarket stuff is usually made in China and the quality just isn't there.
Pics of the unit and the trim rod will help.
There should be no leaks anywhere.

Ok, here is a pic of the unit. I believe its Force, not aftermarket. Can anyone tell me what I have, what did it come on, what years? I bought this on ebay, everything bolted right up. My boat didnt have T/T. The trim rod seal leaks, the rod is worn, I replaced the O-ring. Anybody have a good used?thanks

With some research I've found the style you have.
Looks like it's from a 1996
Most reservoir styles will fit your pump base as long as the wiring works.
Try outboard salvage yards, don't buy from anyone near salt water unless it's the only thing there is.
