When out on the water if I feel the need to pull my motor up, is there any good way to do that? it's a 100 hp inline 6 no power trim or any of that fancy stuff. What I usually do is drop it once I put it in the water and tilt it back up after I trailer it. I've been just taking the weight off the pin and pulling it out prior to lifting the motor. Is there any other way to do it?
Thanks

Hi,
If you shift the engine into forward gear it should release the lock system and allow you to tilt the engine up.
Here is a too to help if you need it.

I have used them and they work. I have not used this brand but they all look the same.

ok, it wasn't the lifting that was the problem, just releasing that damn lock. So I would assume just shut it off and throw it into forward and if the lock is working properly it will disengage? Does that also work for setting the motorinto place?

Thanks

Yup, if you lower the motor back down with the control box in Neutral, the lockout hooks will bind on the tilt pin and it'll be very hard shifting into Reverse if it shifts at all.

I always used to idle towards the beach then, with the motor still in Fwd, turn it off and tilt up. Left it in Fwd until the next time we launched. Worked like a champ!
