Re: Time for some expert paint advice

Can you use MS Paint? Or other (probably better) photo software to mock up what you're thinking as optional stripes?

Right now my mind is open as far as concept goes. I like the subtle scheme, just like a wee bit more perk. WonG's ide above appeals but calls for paint, and I would like to go vinyl stripe for cost reasons.

Is your rubrail (metal channel) black?

Yep. The pics in my last post above shows that more clearly since I did clean it up a bit. I plan on touching it up with black, but I'm nor sure what type of paint wold be best for this purpose. I agree with you that the black stripe nicely breaks up the block of gray.

Don't think dull, think VINTAGE CLASSY ELEGANT SUBTLE ........ :)
Agreed! :)

I'm not sure what the "coaming" is but I have tried to buff the aluminum windshield trim (see pics above). And yes, that stripe down the centre of the bow is aluminum and I will clean and shine it up.

Thanks for the input - you reinforce my own thoughts about how to best finish this thing up. :)

I kinda like just the plain white hull..:)

Well you can see how WonG's idea does add Zingg to the look (subject to the "paint v. sticker" issue. But I hear you . . . the subtle gray-on-white was my initial decision (obvi) but I just feel it could use a little (not a LOT) more "pop."

Maybe a 1/2 inch stripe down the middle of the gray in the blue of WonG's image? Hmmmm . . . ??

So now I see GT1Billion's entry . . . interesting - black! Highlights the gray band as well as the thingy just below the waterline. I would have to paint it I think. So that mean a can of Xpensive black paint . . . :( Can you get bendy pinstriping?

I'm kinda thinking WonG's blue stripe, a little thinner, in GT1Billion's location. I'll see if I have a graphic program on this Linux platform . . . .

OK,based on these ideas I tried a few options with my graphics program, and I think the option that works best will be a 1-inch stripe bordering the gray in dark red/burgundy. I could do that with vinyl tape. The burgundy against the gray looks good and highlights the gray rather than overpowering it. I can't show the graphic since this site doesn't support Linux uploads.

That sounds nice...you might be able to post the picture in a photobucket account, then link it here...

And Yes, I was going to suggest vinyl striping...it should have enough give and flex to follow the contour you need...you can even apply some gentle heat from a hair dryer to help it bend and settle...

nice real similar to mine, 15'5 long its a dane i shopped at chanderly in ottawa for paint, i really factored in what mine was worth and how much time and money to sink into mine, i used marine grade carpet paint, fillers bought the 50 dollar spray gun and put about 6 coats you could come see if you like. i still have to put finishing touches i see in pic you dont have a finishing peice for the nose im stumped to what im going to put for replacement, and gunrale mines missing still. im not sure i will find a match so may need to think of alternative
