I am going to replace the timer base.
If I mark the location, will I need to
get timing re-checked ?

1989
Johnson 150 HP
SL/ST, 6cyl

Thanks
Dan

Re: Timer Base Replacement

No need to mark the location but it never hurts to recheck the timing anytime you repalce an ignition component.

Re: Timer Base Replacement

droutte,

I know this is an old post, but I found it in a search and am curious as to how you determined your timer base was bad? Also, what symptoms was your motor showing and did the new timer base fix it? Replace any other parts along with the timer? I'm going through this with my '89 Evinrude XP150 right now. Thanks!!!
