Bob, I have the perfect solution, just take the boat with you to Mexico. It will be warm and you seem to spend more time there anyway. Just have to figure out how to get it thru airport security.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello everyone.
I'm sitting here in McAllen,TX. I got in about 11 tonight and it's almost 1 am here now. I have to get up at 5 am so I'll keep this short.
Thanks for all the comments too guys I really appreciate them.
I wish I could bring my boat with me, it was 60 when I got here.
I will have a pic for you to look at tomorrow. It's a reminder for me every day of what we are trying to do.
All I can do right now is read all your threads and try to encourage you. At least you are making some progress. I'm not going to rush mine and end up with something less then I want.
I appreciate all the encouragement you give me and all I can say is thanks.
Take care my friends.

Very well put Bob, I feel we are all friends here in our "support group". When we are unable to get to our boats we get on here and live thru others projects and the encouragement is very much appreciated.

Bob,

Soak in all the warmth you can down there. I just heard the forecast for our area, and they say highs below freezing and lows in the low teens until midweek next week!I'm spending time in my friends woodshop working on Lecturns.

BTW ever seen what a CNC router does when you set the depth below the workpiece? It's not pretty, broke the bit off right in the wood.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

OK guys,
Thanks again for all the comments.
I thought this was pretty funny and wanted to share with you.
This is how I know when to turn into the industrial park here in Mexico.

I have determined that the boat is real along with the out drive.
I know that this is not unique, it just struck me as funny because of what we do here and it's my daily reminder.
It's been pretty chilly here too, only in the 50's and this Sunday they say the high will be 34. I'm only about an hour west of the gulf coast. Global warming my @#$%!$#1.
I'll be watching all your projects so keep them rolling.

The bit breaking off in wood is better than in your thumb like I did once. Skin and thumnails are nothing for a carbide bit but luckily when it hit the bone it knocked my thumb away from the bit.

Sharp objects turning at high speeds and body parts of any type should never be used in the same sentence.
A few months ago I was working on a new mold at work and got my index finger on my left hand in the wrong place. It got smashed, cut,( a few stitches) and broke all at the same time. My nail is almost grown back now.
Lessons learned again.

Can I play too? tablesaw kickback took half of my left index finger tip & nail and a bunch of meat from the palm side of my thumb about 4 years ago, just now starting to get some feeling back in both. My own fault for not using a featherboard nor a pushstick, just lucky I guess that the blade was tilted 45 degrees or it would of been adious...be safe guys please...i'm so cautious now I have a hard time getting anything cut, embarrassing to say I sold that tablesaw a week afterwards, like that was gonna help...hey I never claimed I was smart...lol

Hello all,
HSF, I pretty sure that it is a fact that most of us here aren't the brightest folks in this world. :D
But maybe the happiest. :p

One final note. Just the bit and a piece of Red oak plywood. The steppers, and spindle are fine. Still got all the appendages too.

being that I dont see other adults much I have been extra safe. I would hate to get seriously hurt or pinned in the garage and have to rely on my 3 year old to save me.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

HAHA man table saw kick back brings back memories of when I was younger. My dad was on a business trip and he told me to never use his table saw unless he was there...... well being me I didn't listen for &*$^. We lived in a townhome with no driveways but just a 2 lane street between houses.

I pulled the table saw out and started cutting a half sheet of 1/2" plywood and caught a knot and it kicked back. I got scared and I ducked. Must have been a sight to see a half sheet of plywood fly across the street and almost into the garage across from us. I'm only lucky nothing got broken and no one got hurt. Dad never found out.....

micks110,
I'll be heading back Friday afternoon. Not sure if I will get back on the boat it is only fore casted to be 16 as the high Saturday.
thrillhouse700, SKIBUM1M,
I know that we have all done some pretty stupid things over our life's that we are lucky to have lived through. I trust that we have learned and those events will be limited in the future.
SKIBUM1M, sometimes I think the three year old would do better then some adults.:p
robthompson66,
We could probably get one for you.:p

Hey Bob, maybe we can wrap you in heat tape, then put coveralls on you....we wouldn't want anything like a little freezing weather to slow you down! Just make sure you stay plugged in! :D

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

archbuilder,
Hey, I'm glad that you are all really trying to help me out.
I do have a plan but not sure haw well it's going to work yet. I have a 40,000 btu propane torpedo heater, I'm going to add another tarp over the end of the boat and put it inside and see what happens. :)
I'll find a way yet.
Bob
