Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey Mick,
I still plan to head home Friday. We are supposed to get hit again too.
You can have all the snow. The older I get the more I hate it. I'm ready for spring.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Sorry everyone,
Not much progress at all.Mid 20's is not conducive to laying glass. Got home it was raining woke up to snow. !$#!!%%!!1.:(
I just decided to work in the shop. I had some templates, I had made for the sub floor so I cut them out and laminated some other odds and ends.
I also did some work on the interior components but not much to show or tell.
I haven't got any real work on the boat in 3 weeks and now it will be another couple weeks.I need some warm weather to get moving again.
I hope everyone has a great week.

Bob- Here is what we got Friday into Saturday. Not quite what we were supposed to get- just around 6 inches- enough to cover my firewood that isn't split yet- and to get the kids out plying in the snow and sledding.

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey all,
Well again today foul weather kept me inside. I did get some templates made for interior trim pieces. I decided to finish taking my engine and drive controls apart and found that they are toast. The housing is cracked and separated, so now I'll be looking for a replacement for that. NO pic's I didn't even think to take them.
Hey arch, I'll send you some fuel to keep you warm but I'm thinking the same thing.
Take care all

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hey archbuilder,
I may be heading out your way next weekend to pick up an engine and drive. I'll only be a couple hours from OK city.
Just a quick update on Rob's project while I'm at it. The weather has kept him from getting anything done too, However we think we have found a shop to use, so we can get started on his project. Once we actually get started he is going to start his own thread.
Take care all.

Hey Folks,
I'm not sure if my beloved wife was laughing or not, but she sent me a picture that sum's up my work at home.
At the bottom of the pic is the cap from my boat, and my tractor that the wind blew the tarp off.

Hey Bob. Yeh, a shop is definitely at the things to do lost for you!
We are getting snow again tonight and all day tomorrow 12-16"'s! They cancelled school tonight already and it looks like we will have Thursday off as well! I'm out in my garage working in 70 degrees:) I wanted to get the floor glassed tonight but the bilge area is taking longer than expected. Gotta wait for it to dry before I can lay out my mat For the rest of the deck so I can cut it:mad:

Hey Mick,
Glad to hear at least you are making some progress.
At least you keep giving me something to read and follow.
Take care

Lol. I'm out here surfing the web on my phone waiting for this to dry and contemplating if I want to do the rest of the deck tonight? I can use some sleep but we all know this is addicting.
I just read up on arch, now I'm trying to find my thread- it's hard on a iPhone screen!
Glad I could be of value for you. That's next on iBoats- live streaming video of people working on their boats! That would be cool! I'd never watch tv again- except for shipshape of course!

I still think we need to have the I-boats barn raising this spring. Maybe you could sell your "poly jeans" to pay for it? I have this feeling Mick is working on the fashion label.....I think he needs more ventilation in his shop :D. I wish you were coming out to central OK, I'd give you the tour. My lake place is actually out east off of I-40. Hopefully things will thaw out soon for you!

Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Micks, what time and channel is shipshape on? My neighbor said he saw a boat rebuilding show but didnt remember any details.
Bob, this has been the strangest winter I have ever seen. The south is getting pounded and we have nothing up here. There is no snow in my yard. I think it is because I bought a new snowblower. We are having the same winters I had when I lived in nashville. Now if only the lake would thaw out.
