Are these the marks I use with a volt meter? I saw a couple of videos on the subject, looks pretty easy other than the marks face front and the bottom plate moves around. Should you have the throttle at stop or does it matter?

throttle position does not matter leave it at slow… if you do not have the timing tool pointer just use the meter as per video or just for starters set the points at 0.020 at the highest point of the cam lobe.

lots of discussions lately on timing I have used the meter method and the pointer tool with success

if you disconnect the condenser and coil wire only…. you can just unhook the kill button snap connectors and use those wire instead

keep points clean they only need to open when the bars line up... centered as per video 0.20 not important

Crosbyman, new points, set .020 at highest cam position. It took a few pulls to get fuel to the carb with all new lines but it fired right up and runs good in the tank. Idles fine and heading to the lake tomorrow.
Thanks
