A 1964 9.5hp evinrude sport twin was left in a beach house we bought. I think I have a timing problem. I have good spark and I have fuel. It trys to start every now and then but it seems like the timing is off. I have good compression but it just seems like something is off. I do not have the manual for the motor, I would like to get it running and sell it, so i hate to buy the manual and never use it again. Is there a way to set the timing or does it sound like something else could be wrong?

Re: timing adjustment ?

No timing to set tidesright. Try this....put some premix in a spray bottle and shoot some down the carb throat and try to start. If she fires, pull the carb and clean and overhaul.

If she still don't fire, check the spark. Each cylinder spark should junp a 7/16" gap with a hot blue white spark. If you don't have a consistant spark, check the coils, points and condensers under the flywheel.

Keep us posted....thanks.
