timing and dwell 229cid

In manual #7 on pg 1b4 it lists the timing at 8btdc and the dwell at 36-42 deg in specifications. On page 4b2 in ignition section the manual lists it at 12btdc and dwell at 34-38 deg.Does anybody know which specs are correct? Thanks-Blair engine ser# 6681735

It seemed to run a little better at 8deg so I set it there.I had two dwell meters and one said 38 the other said 32so I left it. adjusted the points to .018 instead of .020 but it seemed to change the dwell little.Seems to be runnin good in case anybody is interested.

Thanks FT,good info.I wasn't trying to be smart,just updating in case someone stumbled upon this thread sometime.Pretty much what I set it to.
