I am having a problem with my 72' Evinrude Starflite 100hp where the timing base will seize when the engine warms up. I don't think the engine is overheating because its not extremely hot to the touch and the high temp alarm doesn't go off. I am getting about 15 psi before the thermostat opens and 10psi when the t-stat is open (brand new pump).
Anyway I took the base apart and cleaned out the old grease and replaced it but its still happening. after about 1 hour it will work fine again.
Is there any tolerances that i need to be aware of? or is there something else that could cause this problem?
